Hug & Groom

On the first Sunday of each month, we hold our popular “Hug & Groom” for the public to come meet and interact with our rescued horses and amazing volunteers. It’s a unique opportunity to enjoy nature, learn more about horses and the impact our rescued horses make in helping youth thrive. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Eventbrite. Each event can only accommodate 75 people so please purchase your tickets in advance.

School Field Trips

Free Rein Foundation offers educational experiences to schools. These field trips provide experiential learning beyond the classroom walls. Students have the unique opportunity to gain insight into the Free Rein herd and interact with a variety of horses. They learn about how horses communicate, what it means to be part of a herd, what they eat, and how they are cared for in our pastures. The donations made for these visits are specifically allocated to the care and feed of our herd. Homeschools, private and public school groups are invited to reach out for more information.

Day of the Horse: 3K Walk for Horses and Trees

Free Rein Foundation and the Huntington Beach Tree Society are teaming up to offer a beautiful day walking through the Urban Forest and Free Rein pasture to raise funds for both organizations. Meet new friends and learn about this beautiful slice of heaven in Huntington Beach as you stroll through gardens, breath in ocean breezes and the scent of native sages, and observe wildlife and birds that have returned to thrive in these new habitats planted and tended by the HB Tree Society.

The Cattle Baron’s Ball, Free Rein Foundation’s Annual Gala

Our annual Cattle Baron’s Ball is a must for anyone who enjoys a good time and making a positive impact in the community. Come dressed in your best cowboy and cowgirl glam and get ready to show your two-step country moves dancing to tunes from the James Kelly Band. Can’t two-step? Don’t fret. Our guests will have an opportunity to learn country moves with our dance instructor. The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10th at the picturesque Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center Red Horse Barn. Building on last year’s highly successful Ball, this year’s Ball aims for brilliance, as Free Rein celebrates its Diamond (10th) anniversary. To purchase tickets, tables or sponsorship, please reach out to Judy Alexander at Judy@freereinfoundaton.org.

Q&A

Q: Can FRF accommodate children in wheelchairs?

Yes, our facility is dirt and a bit hilly so it’s not easy to move a wheelchair in the pasture, but our dedicated volunteers are available to help. If you are planning on bringing an individual who needs wheelchair assistance, please reach out for us in advance so that we can make sure we have enough volunteers on site to help.

Q: Is it possible to schedule a private Hug & Groom event?

Absolutely, we are happy to accommodate most groups for a small donation that will help feed and care for our horses. Please reach out to let us know what you are interested in.
