Don’t let his age, size, or even that tongue hanging from the side of his mouth fool you. Checkers is the alpha of any pasture he’s in, commanding respect and attention from his pasture mates. This year Checkers “the super senior“ is 40 years of age–more than 100 in human years! We are grateful for every day with him. As a therapy and teaching horse, Checkers is a gem. He is very sensitive and seems to be particularly connected with kids, allowing them to groom, pet, lead and love on him without fanfare.
