Rosie was rescued as a foal from a kill lot in Oklahoma. She arrived in Southern California painfully thin, full of worms, and trembling in fear. The couple who rescued her hoped she would comfort another miniature horse they had recently rescued named Midnight. Midnight was rescued from a Texas kill lot and had recently lost her foal. The couple’s plan worked! When Midnight met Rosie, she accepted Rosie as her surrogate daughter. Eventually, the couple could no longer care for the mother-daughter pair and Free Rein rescued both horses. Today, Midnight and Rosie are inseparable.
